Herbie under the weather

Postby herbiedog on Wed Jan 30, 2008 7:51 pm

Herbie has been poorly last night and today - we were up all night with him retching and not being able to get comfortable just don't know what caused it - He really didn't want to go for a walk which is really unusual and as he wont do his business in the garden JJ had to carry him over to the wood so he could go!!!

He's spend most of the day asleep but has at last eaten just a little chicken and had a play with the ball but is now fast asleep again - but must admit he does look a lot better just don't know what caused it - but hopefully he's on the mend

Oh Liz, I'm sorry to hear about poor Herbie. :( It's a good sign that he's eaten some chicken though. Gently feel his tummy to make sure it's not hard. I hate it when mine get unwell, but I'm sure he'll be O.K. They're like kids....go down like a "sack of spuds" when unwell, but bounce back really quickly! Keep us posted.....hugs to Herbie!

Thanks Sharon - have had a quick feel of the tum and it feels Ok but he is a stocky little fellow and hard to tell

He really wanted to go for a walk this morning but when JJ got him over the field just sat down shaking so just bought him home again :|

But has perked up again and I've given him more chicken and he enjoyed that so hopefully he's just as I say under the weather

Yes you can't help worring about them. Think it's mostly because he's so small our other dog was a lot bigger and we never seemed to worry so much about him as he didn't seem to be ill that much

You'd know if his tum was hard......it goes really rock hard. I think you're right, Liz, just a bit off-colour. Is he any brighter this afternoon?

Hi Sharon - he had more chicken at lunch time and we took him for a walk which he didn't really want to do until he saw a fox run out from the bush and then suddenly he was brimming with energy !!!

He had quite a play when we got back and is now sleeping it off .... god I feel like a fussy mother hen it's like having another child in the house - even my son rung up at lunchtime to see how he is.. people just don't understand do they (he he)

I totally understand Liz!! I'm the same with the dogs as I was with the kids when they were little! I can do blood and poo but I just can't deal with sick! Glad Herbie's had a little run around .....maybe it's a "man" thing now....enjoying the fussing!

Perhaps it is man flu.......

He really does seem a lot better he's had more food and a long play with Matt and having another lay down but more like his old self this evening...So let's hope tomorrow he's totally back to normal

poor little herbie dog....i hope he is feeling brighter. it is hard when your dog is sick because they cant tell you what is wrong or where it hurts.....when pepsi had her cataracts removed last year, i was so affraid of what might happen, i think i was a bigger mess than she was!!!
