My service dogs always choose me. You can't really train a dog to alert to seizures so when I'm looking for a new service dog, it takes awhile to find one cause it has to be a dog that connects with me right away.
I searched humane societies and rescues for almost a year before I found Rhea and we just clicked right away. She was almost 2 when I got her. There's something about this dog that I just can't explain. I've had 3 service dogs before her and she's quite unlike any of them and the best service dog I've had by far.
Lol, with Achilles, my husband just came home with him one day. He's never allowed to go to the humane society alone again. I guess they had an entire litter of Plott puppies and he just couldn't resist. Of course, a week later he got deployed and I got to raise a 7 week old puppy by myself for 8 months.

Not that I minded too much tho.
With Libby, my husband and I were in Germany visiting my cousin who is stationed there and we just happened to go check out a Shepherd breeder while we were there who had an older female who was just returned because she was cut from police training because she wasn't working out. I met the dog and she and I just clicked and I felt she would make a good service dog so we brought her back with us.
And now I'm never allowed near dogs that need homes... lol. At least for a awhile anyway.
