If your dog has an accident, after soaking up most of the mess with a paper towel, sprinkle a generous amount of Bicarbonate of Soda (baking soda) onto the area. It will absorb both the traces of urine and the odour.

Never hit your dog, if you do it will not come when called as it will fear punishment.

Pet toys like Kong's that dispense treats are great for keeping your dog entertained, Make him work for his food!!

Be sure to keep all electric cords away from your puppy, he may bite them and get a shock!!

Why not make a big beef stew for your dog? Then you can put serving sized meals into the freezer and all you need to do is pull out a bag of beef stew, heat it and serve it. You could even eat it yourself!

When it is hot, fill your dogs Kong with fun foods, kibble, treats etc fill with water and freeze over night, it makes a cool fun treat that will keep them busy for ages. If you have a big dog, make a pup ice, use a milk carton or ice cream container, fill loosely with food, top up with water and freeze, it is hours of cool fun for your dog.

If you have a small to medium size dog, get your butcher to cut a large bone into three or four pieces, and then freeze the spares.

If you have a woolly dog, make sure for the first few days after a big clip that you keep them out of the sun and keep them warm if it is cold, the skin may not be used to exposure.

If your dog hates baths try to make it as fun as possible, my dog loves balls, so we play ball in the tub while we bath her, it makes the process a bit longer but the stress a lot less.

If you have stairs invest in a good baby gate while your dog is a pup, our 12 wk old pup broke her neck when she fell only 3 steps.
