Socialization

Socializing your dog is pretty important I've read, how many of you actually do it?? Whenever we take pup to the park we see lots of other dogs and their owners are kind enough to strike a conversation and our dogs socialize for a bit, its quite neat! :D

When we first had herbie as a puppy we took him to puppy socializing parties at our local vets but as he has got older can only socialize with a few other dogs because of his fear aggression (he likes mainly female dogs typical male!!) :D

I am a firm believer in socialization. Bella and Willis go to my college campus EVERY week. They meet loads of people and they are great ambasadors of their breed. Bella also goes to Petsmart and loves to play around. I take Willis very rarely to Petsmart because he has some alpha dog issues. Dusty is a king of socialization. Thanks to his mix we had him around lots of people and other dogs. He loves everything. He also goes to a local outdoor mall where he is loved by everybody there. He even saw a Cane Corso and didn't react at all. :yay:

I took both of mine to puppy preschool classes where they had offleash playtime... I also take them to our local leash free park every chance I get... usually every weekend... although Drake has been having some dominance issues with other undessexed males so I havent been for a while and got him dessexed last friday so hopefully that will help to fix the problem...

I think it is very important and it shouln't stop as a pup, it should go on throughout the dogs life, it makes a happy confident and well mannered dog

Even though it's difficult for us to soicalize Herbie we still make an effort to walk him where there are other dogs so we can walk past them with him he does see other dogs in our walks some of them he is ok with especially female dogs he has known for some time 8-)
